All American Basketball Nominees were Announced!

McDonald’s  announced its list of high school seniors who were nominated to play in the 2013 McDonald’s All American Games. This year’s list boasts players from 39 states and the District of Columbia who have been selected by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee. Of the 814 players nominated from across the country, 20 hail from the Greater Philadelphia Region.

A complete list of 2013 McDonald’s All American Games nominees is available at www.mcdaag.com. The final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls who will be selected to play in the 2013 Games will be announced during the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Show on ESPNU on February 14 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

The 36th Annual Boys Game will tip-off on Wednesday, April 3 at 9:30 p.m. ET from Chicago’s United Center and will be broadcast on ESPN. The 12th Annual Girls Game will precede the Boys Game, beginning at 7 p.m. ET and will broadcast live on ESPNU. Information regarding tickets for the 2013 McDonald’s All American Games is available at Ticketmaster.  Net proceeds from the Games will benefit Ronald® McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The Games have raised more than $10 million for RMHC since its inception in 1978.

McDonald's.Sponsored the 21st Annual African American Children's Book Fair

In honor of Black History Month, McDonald’s® sponsored the 21st Annual African American Children's Book Fair on Saturday, February 9, 2013 in the Gymnasium of the Community College of Philadelphia. The event was free and open to the public. Authors and illustrators made presentations from their books and a wide selection of African American books were featured and available for purchase. Additionally, games, prizes, giveaways and reading resources were available.

McDonald’s had a display booth that included “Readers are Leaders” bookmarks (all of which included a Happy Meal.coupon!) and Fun Times magazines available for attendees.  McDonald’s also donated 100 books to the “Educator Series.”

Dental Care for Qualified Kids Ages 1-8 at No Cost to Families 

Supported by RMHC® of the Philadelphia Region, Inc., and operated by St. Christopher's Foundation for Children, the Ronald.McDonald Care Mobile is a two-chair clinic on wheels that provides diagnostic, preventative and restorative dental care to qualified new patients ages 1 to 8 at no cost to their families. For appointments call (215) 427-8877.

Care includes examinations, cleanings, fluoride and sealant treatments, x-rays and fillings. Care Mobile staff will also provide children with dental hygiene instruction. Complicated treatment will be referred. Children qualify for the program if their families are unable to find a Medicaid provider or cannot afford to pay for dental services.

The Care Mobile Dental Program offers complete, continuous care and serves as a dental home for qualified children.
